Getting started with AI agent discovery

Learn what AI agents are, which platforms are supported, and how to connect them to start discovering agents in your environment.

What's an AI agent?

An AI agent is a persistent automation built on a platform like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or n8n. Unlike one-off AI queries, agents stay active, connect to other tools, and can process data continuously—often without the security team knowing they exist.

Connected app discovery

For platforms where you've set up a connected app integration, Nudge Security discovers agents through the platform's API. This gives you the deepest visibility - agent configurations, permissions, connections to other tools, and more. Agent data refreshes approximately every 24 hours as part of the connected app sync cycle.

AI agent discovery works with the following platforms:

  • Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • Salesforce Agentforce

  • Make

  • ServiceNow

  • n8n

  • Tines

  • Workato

  • Abacus

  • ChatGPT

  • Claude managed agents

  • LangSmith Fleet

  • Gemini for Google Workspace

To start discovering agents through connected apps, go to Settings → Connected Apps in the left nav. Use the capability filter to show the connected apps that support AI agent discovery. From there you can connect your company organization for each AI platform into Nudge Security.

Browser extension discovery

For platforms where you don't have a connected app integration (or platforms that don't expose a public API) the browser extension discovers agents directly from the browser. When an employee creates or lists an agent in a supported platform, the extension intercepts the web request and adds the agent to your inventory automatically. No API integration required.

This means you get visibility into AI agents even on platforms you haven't formally connected - as long as the employee creating the agent has the browser extension installed.

Supported platforms (browser extension):

  • Retool

  • Zapier Agents

  • OpenAI Agents (Workflows)

  • Cursor automations

  • ChatGPT workspace agents

  • Zoom AI Workflows

  • HyperAgent

  • Atlassian Rovo (Jira, Bitbucket)

Using both methods together

Connected app discovery gives you the deepest data - full agent configurations, permissions, and connection details - but requires an API integration for each platform. Browser extension discovery covers platforms that don't have API integrations and catches agents created by employees on platforms you haven't formally connected. Together, they give you the broadest coverage of your organization's AI agent footprint.

Where to find AI agent details

Go to Identities → AI Agents in the left sidebar. You'll also find an AI Agents sub-tab under Dashboards → AI.

If no agents have been discovered yet, you'll see an empty state with a link to connect your AI platforms.

How often does discovery refresh?

Connected app discovery refreshes approximately every 24 hours as part of the connected app sync cycle. New agents — or changes to existing ones — may take up to 24 hours to appear after initial discovery.

Browser extension discovery captures agents in near real-time. When an employee creates or lists an agent in a supported platform, it appears in your inventory shortly after the extension detects the activity.
